Western Australian women are experiencing a lower birth rate than almost anywhere else globally.

Simon Keustenmacher from The Demographics Group informed Perth Today host Simon Beaumont that, in addition to cost of living pressures, increased education among women is a contributing factor.

‘We have fewer babies because women are getting on average more and more educated,’ he noted.

Damian Collins of Momentum Wealth further elaborated, highlighting a direct link between house prices and birth rates:

‘The higher the cost of real estate, the lower the birth rate,’ he explained.
