There are calls for the state government to issue a formal apology to Western Australian women left in severe pain by pelvic mesh implants.

It comes after the South Australian government apologised to South Australian women following a lengthy class action.

Anaya Watts, had the procedure done 15 years ago and is still in severe pain.

“There was no awareness [of what stage the treatment was in] … it was ‘This is the latest and greatest thing we’ve got, trust me, I’m an experienced surgeon,’,” she told Rusty Collett, filling in for Simon Beaumont.

“We should all be equally angry about this and taking action against it,” she added.
