The executive producer of 6PR Breakfast had a swarm of bees come down the street and settle in a tree in his front yard yesterday (watch the video below).

“I went outside and I live on a corner block, coming down the street was a swarm of bees… they made a beeline for a tree on my front verge,” he told stand-in Breakfast co-hosts Lisa Barnes and Mark Gibson.

Past president of the WA Apiarists Association, Ian Beeson, told the program the swarm activity was not uncommon at this time of the year.

“They normally fly around for a while and if the weather is not the best or they get a bit tired, they will find a tree or a branch or, in Shane’s case, his lovely bottlebrush,” he said.
