WA’s top cop understands outrage over hit-and-run sentence
WA’s Police Commissioner says he understands anger from the community over a sentence handed down to a young driver responsible for a deadly hit and run.
Devlin Bartholomew (above left) was yesterday handed a six-year prison term for killing three-year-old Gareth Tetteh (above right), while driving more than 130kmh down a suburban street in Aveley.
Col Blanch told host Gareth Parker in his regular segment on 6PR Breakfast it’s not appropriate to comment on specific sentencing matters, but the frustration is there.
“Your listeners have been very clear and I know you have a view and that’s really the loudest voice of our community and that’s what needs to be listened to,” he said.
