Western Australia’s summer of sport is under threat, with medical experts concerned heatwaves could become a major health threat to people.

With global warming on the rise, medical officials are warning heat stress is becoming a major issue for players and spectators.

State Medical Officer for Western Australian Cricket  Dr Tom Hill told 6PR Afternoons it’s not about the number, but how hot it feels.

“The biggest thing you can do is plan,” said Dr Hill.

“The globes heating up… the best we can do is to plan for it.”
