Warning over ‘savage’ and ‘ferocious’ online marketplace robberies

Mick and Gena

Police are warning people to take care when selling and purchasing items on online marketplaces after recent violent burglaries have shocked communities.

A meet-up organised via Facebook Marketplace ended with the seller’s home being robbed by a group of burglars with weapons in Queensland over the weekend.

University of Queensland Criminology lecturer Renee Zhano told Karl and Gena onĀ 6PR Breakfast inviting people to your home to sell products is probably not the best option.

“Giving people your address and showing photos of the inside of your home can be quite dangerous,” Doctor Zhano said.
