Warning for passengers as engineers set to strike amid flight safety fears

Airlines are under the pump, with terrible on-time performance rates this month and staff shortages across airlines and airports.
A potential industry action by aircraft engineers is now on the cards.
Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association federal secretary Steve Purvinas said air travellers, including FIFO workers, are being told to brace for more flight cancellations in coming weeks as the engineers strike over industrial pay.
“We’re seeking a 12 per cent pay rise, which accounts for the four years we haven’t had a pay rise… it was due four years ago,” he told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.
