All-Australian defender Luke Ryan says his teammates have been challenged to stick to their role ahead of Saturday’s anticipated match against Melbourne at the MCG.

The Dockers face the reigning premiers before a clash with second-placed Brisbane in a fortnight of football that will show Fremantle fans exactly where the club sits in the AFL premiership race.

“We got a good wake-up call, had a pretty good meeting, and now ready to move on to the biggest challenge in footy,” Ryan told host Gareth Parker in his regular Thursday segment on 6PR Breakfast.

“Structurally we were okay, it was just the players playing their role… just that connection between backline, forwards and mids, there was no connection at all. We addressed that pretty well.”
