Star Fremantle defender Luke Ryan is racing time to be fit for the weekend’s fixture against Gold Coast.

The All-Australian told Gareth Parker in his regular Thursday segment on 6PR Breakfast he was confident of overcoming an ankle injury that required treatment during the club’s 78-point win over North Melbourne on Friday night.

Ryan managed to play out the game and told Parker he hoped to train this week ahead of the away clash.

“I rolled it pretty bad, but it’s getting better every day and we’ll see if I can train today,” he said.

Fremantle’s depth has already been tested this season, with COVID-enforced changes in the past few weeks as the club continues its strong start to 2022.
