Australian Council of Trade Unions Federal Secretary Sally McManus has rejected notions salary caps are necessary to prevent inflation, arguing governments need to do more to ensure fair wages.

Ms McManus stopped by the 6PR Studio to tell Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings she was in the midst of conferring with union leaders acorss the country on the issue.

“Obviously in circumstances like this where cost-of-living is such a pressure, workers want to be able to argue their case and have their case listened to,” Ms McManus said.

“Whenever you have a cap, you’re saying it doesn’t really matter what you say.”
