The South West town of Bridgetown has banned people under 18 from purchasing energy drinks.

The four-month trial aims to combat the damage energy drinks have on poor mental health and anti-social behaviour.

Senior Researcher at the Telethon Kids’ Institute, Justine Howard, told Gary Adshead retailers in Bridgetown have voluntarily agreed to the study.

“No young person in Bridgetown will be able to buy an energy drink for the study period – so that will be part of us looking at the feasibility and acceptability of the ban,” Ms Howard said.
