Commissioner Chris Dawson wants police to have more power to stop and search vehicles in WA in an ambitious plan to eradicate the state’s drug syndicates.

“The legislation that’s being drafted up is within specific areas [of the state],” he told Gareth Parker in his regular Wednesday segment on 6PR Breakfast.

“It doesn’t mean that randomly everyone … [only] when we have that particular information.

At that particular moment, at that particular place… if we have the grounds to search, that would give us the capacity to step on the throat of drug traffickers.”
