A Katanning farmer has been awarded with an Australian Bravery Medal for a courageous rescue during a house fire.

Michael King saved an elderly woman from the burning building after using a steel bar to break his way through a window.

Mr King told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast he was “a bit shocked” when he was contacted by the Governor-General about the commendation.
