COVID-19 travel restrictions have decimated the number of overseas and interstate travelers arriving in WA, which will lead to problematic consequences when it comes to local farmers trying to source a workforce during harvest and fruit-picking periods…

The State Government has been speaking to farmers to figure out a solution, including trying to lure twenty-something-year-olds and semi-retired, skilled folk out of the city and into rural areas. The Afternoons Program spoke to the State Agriculture and Food Minister, Alannah MacTiernan, all about the issue and on a ‘rural adventure’.
