WA desperate for support workers

Western Australia is in need of disability and allied health workers to help support those most vulnerable in the community.

New Chapters coordinator Andrea Cooper told 6PR Millsy at Midday host Steve Mills about how rewarding being a carer is.

“Sometimes you walk in a room and someone can’t say thank you but their smile says everything,” Ms Cooper says.

She blames red tape and low wages for deterring people from working as a carer.

“There is so much red tape… all in order to make a difference in someone’s life,” says Ms Cooper.

However, she believes if a person is looking to change their career, working in healthcare is “easy to step into.”
