The fifth Ashes Test at Optus Stadium looks like it is set to go ahead in January after the Premier unveiled WA’s reopening roadmap.

Premier Mark McGowan said he was “very confident” there will be a good outcome reached between the state government and Cricket Australia.

Christina Matthews, WA Cricket CEO, said the comments were all very positive.

“I know from first hand experience there has been really good collaboration between the state government, ourselves and Cricket Australia,” she said.

“But these things get down to daily chats about details and it will all be announced in good time.

“I am far more confident about it going forward then I was a month ago, I thought it was in real danger.”

Matthews said they were looking at a similar arrangement to the AFL.
