Sergeant Steve Cleal from the Port Hedland Police has slammed drunk people getting on a plane in an epic Facebook post.

He told Gareth Parker the post “struck a chord”.

“In the country resources are limited, we are asked to do a lot with a lot less,” he said on 6PR Breakfast.

“Community engagement here is fantastic, so we work well with lots of industries and that includes the international airport.

“I get notified off all the incidents, and so there is a response to every single one of them, however there’s not always a need for police.

“It’s one of those issues where I don’t want to say we have better things to do … but as I said in the post, we have a lot to do here, and a lot on our plate and babysitting people who have been kicked off planes is something that I’d love to avoid.”
