As mask wearing remains a government mandate across WA, an international company has taken up the fight to to recycle abandoned disposable masks.

TerraCycle spokeswoman Lisa Green told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast the issue was a significant global problem and her global firm had partnered with the City of South Perth to trial “drop-off points” for people to dispose their masks for safe recycling.

“Many WA businesses have picked this up as a solution,” she told Parker.

“Everything from businesses out at Perth Airport to John Curtin College of the arts, to optometrists.”
