Police investigating a home invasion in Girrawheen nearly a fortnight ago have charged three people.

A couple in their 70’s were robbed of possessions including about 200-thousand dollars’ worth of jewellery by three men who’d got into their Allison Way home by posing as police officers.

Two men aged 38 and 43, and a 48 year old woman, have been arrested.

It has now been confirmed one of the men had been released from immigration detention in November after a controversial High Court ruling that indefinite detention for detainees who could not be deported was illegal.

43 year old Majid Jamshidi Doukoshkan appeared in court earlier today.

Shadow Immigration Minister Dan Tehan told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live this is incredibly distressing and one of the most heinous things he’s heard in a long time.

Mr Tehan continued to note that someone needs to be held to account as people at home are probably questioning if the Albanese government is really keeping them safe.

“This whole issue has been botched… Minister Giles, the immigration minister, has never fronted up, never wanted to take responsibility,” Mr Tehan said.
