Victorian paceman Scott Boland called into Australian Test squad

Victorian paceman Scott Boland has been drafted in Australia’s 13-man squad for the Boxing Day Test against the West Indies after Nathan Coulter-Nile was ruled out through injury.

Coulter-Nile suffered a dislocated shoulder in the field during the Perth Scorchers’ Big Bash League loss to the Adelaide Strikers at the WACA on Monday night.

It’s unsure how long Coulter-Nile will be sidelined with this latest injury.

It’s the second time this summer that Boland has been called up to the Australian team.

He was on standby for the first Test of the Frank Worrell Trophy down in Hobart and joins fellow Victorian pacemen Peter Siddle and James Pattinson in the squad.

New South Wales’ Josh Hazlewood is the other member of the fast bowling quartet in contention to play.

A coveted baggy green cap would cap off what’s been a terrific 2015 for Boland.

He’s impressed in four Sheffield Shield games for the Bushrangers this summer, taking 13 wickets at the terrific average of 17.07 and a strike rate of a scalp every 46 balls.

The 26-year-old has taken three wickets in the Melbourne Stars’ opening two losses of BBL05 against the Strikers and Sydney Thunder.
