The shock news of King Charles and Princess Kate’s cancer diagnoses has put to rest ongoing rumour-mongering over their respective health – but may be the start of even more.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Karl and Millsy on 6PR Breakfast the eventual news was probably so surprising as no-one really wanted to imagine the worst for the King and Princess.

“So to see that very powerful and brave statement from her – and clearly she could have just put out the press release – even though she’d been somewhat coerced into doing it because of all the online speculation, and also because of the fact that the breach at the hospital, I think she probably thought, ‘I want to get ahead of the narrative here and take it back'”, Mr Ford said.

“But there seems to be this insatiable curiosity… It’s like a demand that you have to give us the intimate and gory details because the Kardashians do it, so why aren’t you doing it?”
