New Zealand mare Verry Ellegant has raced home ahead of heavily backed favourite Incentivise to claim the 2021 Lexus Melbourne Cup by four lengths.

That makes it ten group 1 wins for the six-year-old mare which was ridden by jockey James McDonald.

It’s Sydney trainer Chris Wallers first win in the iconic race.

European star Spanish Mission finished third and Floating Artist came in fourth.
