Australian Nursing Federation State Secretary Mark Olson spoke to Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings, asking the government for tighter controls and restrictions across the state.

“What our members are saying, Liam is that the last 12 months have been really difficult for those working in the WA health system. Public, private, health care,” he said.

“Vaccinations and masks are just not going to cut it.”

“We don’t wait for the surge to get here. We take steps to prevent the surge from arriving.”

The ANF State Secretary said the steps that need to be taken to prevent a surge of omicron, include encouraging people to work from home, stopping visitors from coming into hospitals, and putting density limits in food and beverage outlets.

Mr Olson said that if measures aren’t put in place and an Omicron surge occurs before the border opens, it will be the fault of the WA government.
