Optus customers are being urged to not act on emails or text from the embattled telco asking them to update their account details in the wake of last week’s massive data breach of up to 10 million people.

6PR tech guru Trevor Long, from EFTM told Millsy at Midday host Steve Mills Optus users should beware the email hoax, saying the new hoax takes advantage of their fears for future security.

“The new scam now will be emails and text messages that say they’re from Optus,” Long said.

In his regular Tuesday segment on Millsy at Midday, Long also gave listeners useful and timely advice to further shore up their data security, and how scammers may use your personal information for fraudulent activity.
