The City of Canning has revealed a plan to ban any advertisements deemed ‘offensive,’ including fast food, alcohol, and faces of opposing politicians from suburban bus stops, bins, and benches.

The controversial plan was brought to the table by the council’s own staff, creating uproar and division amongst council members.

The Mayor of the City of Canning Patrick Hall says the plan is a bridge too far however more information is needed before the plan is binned.

“They are not illegal businesses, so why will we ban them? – My personal view is we’ve got it wrong, we’ve overcomplicated it so council has decided to put it aside for now,” Mr Hall told 6PR Breakfast.
