WA police are to be equipped with the most up to date mobile phones as the State Government’s multi million dollar investment in fighting crime continues.

Functions accessible at an officers fingertips include photos of suspects or missing people, a suspects address or vehicle rego as well as an ability to capture evidence and write up crime reports.

Officers will also be able to log on to the phone and have their location linked to other officers as well as the state control centre keeping them safer on the job.

The phones will have high grade security and bio metric features so vital information can’t be accessed if they’re lost or stolen.

Superintendent Lance Martin told Simon Beaumont, three thousand nine hundred phones will be rolled out by Christmas.
