Analysts, government council members and the building industry itself are pushing for a dramatic increase in the allowance of works being done by unregistered builders.

Currently, unregistered builders are capped at $20,000 in work costing.

Gosnells mayor Terresa Lynes told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast the builders would still need approval, but the changes would bring more flexibility into the industry.

“They can get a builder-owner permit, but even that takes a couple of years at this point,” Ms Lynes said
