Tim Halden was rescued with his son and friends when their boat capsized on Sunday by a freak wave off the coast of Hillarys.

Mr Halden retold the story to Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast on Monday morning.

The family’s pet dog was taken to the vet after being trapped underneath the boat, but has since passed away.

“She had been under too long, so we had to put her down last night,” he said.

“Everyone loved her. She was a beauty,

“My teenage boys were pretty cut up and blamed himself a bit, he was the one who wanted to go surfing.”
