A bushfire Emergency Warning is in place in parts of Aubin Grove and Hammond Park in the City of Cockburn.

The emergency warning area is bounded by Kwinana Freeway, Hammond Road, Mokare Reserve, Botany Park and Rowley Road.

You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes. Homes in the area are under threat by fire now.

If the way is clear, leave now for a safer place. Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute could put your life in danger.

People in the area should leave west along Russel Road or north along Hammond Road if it is safe to do so.

If you cannot leave, you need to get ready to shelter in your home. If you are not at home, it’s too dangerous to return.

Kwinana Freeway is closed in both directions between Russell and Rowley Roads.

The fire appears to have taken hold in multiple spots in Hammond Park.

Flames have engulfed at least two structures that appear to be shipping containers or sheds.

The Department of Education has confirmed students and staff are being evacuated from Hammond Park Secondary College, Hammond Park Primary School and Aubin Grove Primary School.
