Tradies warned over dangerous consumption of energy drinks
There are calls to ban energy drinks from Australian building sites as some tradies are consuming so many of them that their health and work are suffering.
Productivity Boot Camp director Paul Breen, a former concreter who used to have two energy drinks before work, told 6PR Breakfast host Gareth Parker energy drinks are fueling tradies up as they start their day.
“When I see the kids that take these drinks in the morning, compared the kids that don’t… their performance is the same for the first hour, but you can see their energy dropping and dehydration and wanting more energy drinks to keep going,” said Breen, who conducts eight-week boot camps to prepare young people for work, with a focus on nutrition and mindfulness.
“It’s plain sight to see in young people that the harm it’s doing and the effects it has on them… if I had this education 20 years ago I probably wouldn’t be as unfit as I am.”
