They are Australian basketball’s leading franchise and one of WA’s most successful sporting organisations, so choosing the best 10 players to have ever suited up for the Perth Wildcats was no easy task.

A 10-person panel of Australian basketball heavyweights underwent vigorous research to complete the process, which marks 40 years this Sunday since the Cats first-ever NBL fixture.

Five-time championship coach Trevor Gleeson was named to lead the club, while six-time title winner Damian Martin was named captain after leading the Cats through their successful 2013 to 2020 era, when it won five titles.

Former coach Alan Black told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast some of the club’s greatest players were hard done by to miss the cut.

“It’s hard to compare across seasons, when you’re going back to the 80s when the Wildcats struggled to win games,” he said.
