As the granddaughter of of former Australian Prime Minister Joseph Lyons and Dame Enid Lyons, Libby Lyons definitely comes form strong political stock.

But as she told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons, “I’ve learned that you don’t have to be a politician to make a difference in people’s lives.”

A former public servant and advocate for a range of issues including women’s rights and workplace culture, Ms Lyons has had a very eclectic career, but has never lost her drive.

“I think political parties are looking for young people; that’s fine, but I think there’s a lot to be said for life experience in politics,” she said.
