One of the biggest debates to come out of the Atlantis Beach school shooting is the one on access to firearms, and whether or not state laws need to be reassessed.

Police Minister Paul Papalia stated in Parliament last night the State Government will alter firearm access and registration laws, with more than 350,000 licensed firearms currently in the state.

“The question to ask in regards to the incident is, ‘Why do the current laws allow this to happen?’ Because they did,” Mr Papalia said.
