South Australia is forcing the fresh produce industry to switch from plastic to compostable fruit and vegetable stickers; however, the ban had to be postponed while the industry make adjustments.

Claire McClelland, CEO of the Australian Fresh Produce Alliance, informed Perth Today that these stickers are essential for identifying the produce’s variety and origin.

“We do get a lot of feedback from consumers about the sticker, particularly people who are composting at home and the challenge it presents when one of the plastic stickers shows up in the compost,” she said
