Fremantle defender Zac Dawson has injured his thumb while playing for Peel Thunder and will require surgery to repair the damage, Ross Lyon has revealed on 6PR’s Sports Today. 

Dawson was playing his first game of the season while on the comeback trail from a pre-season groin injury. 

It depletes the Dockers backline stocks even further with Alex Silvagni recovering from hamstring surgery. 

Lyon also reflected on the head-to-head battle between Nathan Fyfe and Patrick Dangerfield. 

With tongue firmly in cheek, Lyon said he was marvelling at Fyfe while cursing at Dangerfield on Saturday night.
