Detectives are tracing the final hours of a mother’s life after she and her two children were found dead in the back of their burnt-out car in a suspected murder-homicide on Monday.

A charred vehicle with the trio’s bodies inside was towed from the Perth coastal suburb of Coogee for forensic examination, after firefighters made the grim discovery on Monday afternoon.

WA Police had earlier declined to confirm who the occupants of the car were.

Nine News Perth reporter Alexia Pesce said police had not returned to the scene at this stage.

“Police have not confirmed who was in that car or if there was a relationship between those people, just that there was three people,” she told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.
