A workplace compliance expert says there are a number of strategies employers can put in place to keep things respectful at end of year Christmas parties.

The Christmas party is an extension of the work place and indecent behaviour can lead to equipment damage, job losses and even sexual harassment charges.

Workplace Compliance Expert, Gavin Altus, told 6PR Mornings it’s important employers talk about what’s expected at these events.

“In the eyes of the law, reasonable steps is that you’ve educated your staff, and that you also have policies in place in terms of how to identify, report and resolve these things,” he said.

“Wether that’s bullying, discrimination, harassment.”
