There’s a call for the Federal government to freeze scheduled tobacco excise hikes
A Melbourne University professor says the Federal government should pause increases in the tobacco excise to weaken the profit of the black market.
RMIT University Institutional Economics professor Sinclair Davidson spoke to 6PR Radio Perth Live presenter Oliver Peterson and said he believed no one in Canberra would go down this route as there would be “egg on their (the politicians) faces” if they had to backtrack on the policy.
