A Margaret River electrician has spilled the beans on his incredible encounter with Shane Warne, which exemplifies the generosity and kindness of the late cricket great.

Cricket fan Michael Earl tells Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast how the 52-year-old tracked him down on Twitter and flew him to Melbourne in 2014 after he was filmed having a tantrum in the crowd at the WACA in November 2001, when the cricket legend was caught out on 99.

“Sitting there with him just talking all things footy, and cricket and all the fame and that, and there were people coming up who had obviously had quite a few beers, and were calling him ‘Shaun’,” he said.

“One of the things he said to me was, ‘if people ask me for a photo, I’ll oblige all the time, if people come and take a photo, I’ll tell them to go somewhere’.”
