The Takeover Target story

Joe Janiak was a taxi driver when he went to the horse auctions with a bit of coin in his pockets.
He purchased a horse for $1,250, it went on to make over $6million in career prize money – the horse was Takeover Target.
Takeover Target won eight group one races and was named Australian Champion sprinter in 2006.
‘All I expected was win one or two races and get my money back out of it and I would have been happy,’ Janiak said.
‘He had a fantastic pain barrier because when he had pain he kept going and other horses would have pulled up.’
