Research from the University of Notre Dame’s Institue for Health Research has revealed that 70 people died on Perth streets last year.

Professor Lisa Wood revealed the shocking number to Liam Bartlett onĀ 6PR Mornings, stating that the research has shown how desperate the homelessness situation had become.

“The thing that’s even more sobering for me is that the average age of death last year amongst people who experience homeless was only 51,”

“You and I can expect to live to somewhere around 81 on average, and we’re talking about, if you’re homeless a three-decade life expectancy gap.”

Tap PLAY to listen to why the number is so high in Perth, and hear from House the Homeless WA campaign coordinator Jesse Noakes on his fight to fix the public housing crisis.
