The Federal Government are pledging $11 billion to the under-pressure aged care sector in budget proposals.

The decision comes after multiple calls from the industry and a Royal Commission recommending  pay rises in the wake of staff shortages.

Aged and Community Care Providers Association CEO Tom Symondson told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings the increase will hopefully prevent aged care from becoming more stressed.

“The question really wasn’t whether people would get the pay rise or not; it’s whether the government would fund it or not,” Mr Symondson said.
