After Perth Children’s Hospital decided to close off their central car park to patients last week, one particular child patient and his mother were surprised by a kind listener who wanted to put a smile on their faces.

In 2019 Nicky’s son Jamie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia which means he has to have various treatments every week.

After listening to the Sherlock familie’s story last week, one amazing 6PR Morning’s listener decided to donate $500 to the family.

Hayden, a truck driver, said he has been in WA just over a year, loves living in the state and wanted to give back to the family.

“If I could put a smile on that little kids face for just one day. Then it would put a smile on my face for a week,” listener Hayden said.

“In these hard times (some people) will whinge about the smallest things. And we forget about little battlers and what’s going on in the real world. I’m just so happy to help out.”

Jamie’s mum said that it would go a long way for helping her son get through his treatment.

“It absolutely brought tears to my eyes, Liam. It was so unexpected. And to be able to get that for Jamie, it just means so very much.”
