It will cost Australia about $30 billion more a year to bring aged care up to international standards, according to providers.

The Aged and Community Care Providers Association are warning the Federal and State Governments urgent changes are needed to consolidate standards.

ACCPA CEO Tom Symondson told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings groups including wealthier baby boomers would likely have to pick up the slack.

“We need to have a serious grown-up national conversation about how we do that; just continually going back to government and saying, ‘We need to find more and more money’ is just not going to do the job,” Mr Symondson said.
