Perth drivers are reportedly commuting longer than ever before.

Dr Brett Smith, from the University of WA planning and transport research centre, explained to 6PR Breakfast hosts Karl and Jamie that the situation is likely to worsen.

He attributed this to population growth and Perth’s urban planning, noting that Perth is now one of the longest cities in the world.

“Our planning developed around the car,” he said.
