‘That is the date they are looking at’: WA’s border reopening speculation

A well regarded football journalist believes there is a date set for WA’s hard border re-opening, and it’s just in time for the AFL season.

Speaking on Perth LIVE, Fox Sport’s Tom Morris believes the state is aiming to open its borders on the weekend of March 12-14.

“The best way to describe it is that it’s the goal at the moment,” he said. “That is the date they are looking at.”

Earlier this week, WA Premier, Mark McGowan, said he expects to announce a new date later this month.

Changes to the border would mean that COVID regulations would be eased for everyone, including the AFL and Cricket Australia.

“Cricket Australia has been very confident that the borders will reopen by mid-March,” Tom Morris told Oliver Peterson.
