A school bus was destroyed in a raging fire yesterday just moments before it was due to collect students from Ballajura Community College for an excursion.

Seven News reporter Brandon Demura told 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont how quickly the dramatic events unfolded.

“The way the fire started at the back and then just rolled through to the front of the bus in a matter of minutes, just row by row … Thankfully, the driver did get out in time. He did his best … but there was no stopping that fireball from rolling through”, Demura said.

Beaumont then spoke to Lisa Kinsman, the mother of a student waiting to board the bus, who revealed that the drama didn’t end with the fire.

“When I saw the footage, I was shocked. I thought, ‘Oh my God, sliding door moment, and I’m so glad the children are okay – and the bus driver, of course’”, Kinsman said.
