Thousands of people have had their data leaked online after a ‘misalignment of data’ by Telstra.

The leak occurred when people who elected to not have their details enlisted in the White Pages or directory assistant, had their data published.

Telstra executive Michael Ackland told 6PR Mornings host Gary Adshead the leak was “unacceptable”.

“We really did let them down,” said Mr Ackland. 

“They asked for something and we didn’t do it,” he continued.
