She’s completed a three-year-solo walk from Siberia to Asia and won the 2014 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year.

Now Swiss adventurer Sarah Marquis has finished a three-month solo trek across the Australian desert.

During her journey she trekked approximately 1,500km across the Australian desert and at one stage did not speak to another person for six weeks.

Ms Marquis told Michael Thomson onĀ 6PR MorningsĀ her sense of adventure began in her childhood.

“When I was a kid I took my dog and my backpack and slept one night in a cave 1km away from my house,” Ms Marquis said.

“When I came back the police was there: I forgot to tell my parents.”
