Chris Peck, General Manager at Surf Life Saving Western Australia, spoke to Perth Today host Chrissy Morrissy, stressing that the incident serves as a timely and crucial reminder.
With this being the busiest time for surf lifesavers, they are determined to avoid a repeat of last year, when 113 people were rescued from WA beaches between Christmas and New Year.
“We dont want anybody, let alone at Christmas time to have a tragedy within their family,” he said.
